The Choice Is Yours 2020 Video

Oh my goodness, good people. We published this video on YouTube a week before the November 3rd elections, and we neglected to share it here. Doh. Apologies.

If you are a young’un and your parents aren’t that cool, you may not know the brilliant song “The Choice Is Yours” by Black Sheep. If you are “in between being hip and breaking one” (great line, Nancy Davis Kho) and you don’t remember the song, you maye have either slept through your early adulthood or stayed intoxicated and now cannot remember it. “The Choice Is Yours” was a huge hit in 1991. It is such a great song that it has remained one of our all-time favorites for nearly thirty years already. And besides being an altogether rockin’ song, it is stillllllllllll relevant.

We were feeling anxious and stressed about the looming elections — nay, about the state of the world, full-stop. And as we all know, creative expression is one of the best ways — right up there with getting out into Nature — to not only relieve our stress and anxiety but to flood our systems with dopamine, the happy hormone and neurotransmitter. So we sat down, wrote some lyrics to Black Sheep’s unforgettable beat, recorded a couple of tracks, laid them down over the instrumental, added photos to communicate what the choice is, and uploaded the finished product to our YouTube channel. We apologize for the quality of the audio tracks/audio editing, the timing of the photos (they don’t sync with the lyrics the way we would like), and the very poor rapping skills. The lyrics, though? No apologies for those.

The choice is yours right now. And right now. And in this moment. And in this one, too. The choice is always yours. Make your choice.

If you haven’t already (oh, look! the video is up to 127 views! maybe you just watched it?), check out our video. Let us know what you think. (Lyrics and photo credits are in the description beneath the video, so click on “SHOW MORE” beneath the video to see those.) We’ll be making more cover videos in which we use talented artists’ existing beats and instrumentals but flip the lyrics, so we welcome any and all feedback. Truly. Any and all. Bring it.

And remember: THE CHOICE IS YOURS.
